Bill for 400 thali mid-day meal in the name of 200 children
Seoni, Madhya Pradesh| Cases of large-scale irregularities in the name of government schemes have come to light in PMShree schools of the district. Preliminary investigation has revealed that in a school where about 200 students are enrolled, a bill for 400 thali mid-day meal was raised. Not only this, a case of a sound box worth Rs 4 thousand being purchased for Rs 44 thousand has also come to light.
There was a stir in the education department
There has been a stir in the education department after the matter came to light. According to the information, this entire matter is related to the amount spent under PM Nutrition Scheme. Under PM Poshan Yojana, funds are released by the government to provide nutritious food to children, but here questions have been raised on the rights of children.
Payment on raw bills, records missing
Preliminary investigation has also revealed that many materials were purchased on the basis of raw bills. A huge difference was found between the bills submitted by the school management and the actual market prices. The case of sound box is the most shocking, where the payment for an item worth Rs 4 thousand was shown as Rs 44 thousand.
Irregularities in purchasing educational material also
Apart from this, irregularities have also come to light in the purchase of food, stationery and other educational materials. At many places, stock registers and utilization records were not maintained properly. This has deepened the suspicion that government funds were misused in a planned manner.
File reached DPI
Considering the seriousness of the matter, files of three schools have been sent to DPI Bhopal for investigation. According to Education Department officials, after a high-level investigation, strict action will be taken against those responsible. It is also mentioned in the investigation report that there is no match between the actual attendance of students and the data of food distribution. If there are 200 students in the school then how the bill for 400 plates of food was raised is a big question.
Political reaction intensified
The opposition has also cornered the government regarding the matter. Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh alleged that the monitoring system in the education department has completely failed and corruption is taking place in the name of children. He said that many FIRs have been registered in the last few years, but the action is pending.
Question on education system
This entire episode has raised serious questions on the monitoring system of government schools. Such irregularities in the funds released for children’s food and basic amenities are not only an economic crime but also shows social insensitivity.
