New twist in cough syrup case, close friend of dismissed constable found in jail, suspended

Lucknow The famous intoxicating cough syrup scandal of Uttar Pradesh has once again taken a new turn. Jail warder Mahendra Pratap Singh posted in Lucknow Model Jail (Adarsh ​​Jail) turned out to be close to dismissed Special Task Force (STF) constable Alok Singh. Late night on 6th December, on the strict instructions of DG Jail PC Meena, Warder Mahendra was suspended with immediate effect.

According to sources, many pictures and videos of jail warder Mahendra Pratap Singh with the main kingpin of the cough syrup scandal, Shubham Jaiswal, went viral on social media on Saturday evening. In these both can be seen laughing and talking together. This video gave rise to the whole matter. As soon as the matter reached DG Jail, immediate action was taken.

Transaction worth lakhs in wife’s account

Dismissed constable Alok Singh made a transaction worth lakhs of rupees in the bank account of jail warder Mahendra’s wife. This has come to light in the investigation. Mahendra Pratap Singh was found roaming in the gang’s 9777 series white luxury SUV. This was followed by serious allegations of contact with and possible assistance to the cough syrup gang.

When the matter escalated, officials also came into action. Senior Jail Superintendent (Headquarters) Shashikant Singh issued the suspension order in the night itself. Superintendent Rajesh Pandey, in-charge of Model Jail, had also immediately sent the report to the headquarters.

Old relations with strongmen

Investigation has revealed that Mahendra Pratap Singh has old connections with musclemen. During his posting in Unnao District Jail, he was very close to Kuldeep Singh Sengar (detained former MLA). After Sengar went to jail, he became close to a former MP from Purvanchal.

DG Jail has given clear instructions to get to the bottom of the matter and take strict action against the culprits. The departmental investigation has been intensified and more revelations are likely to be made soon. At present, dismissed constable Alok Singh is lodged in Lucknow District Jail, while allegations of running a gang are also being made from his cell adjacent to Model Jail.
