Next 24 hours are very heavy! Red alert in 18 states, such a gathering of clouds

A strange game of weather is being seen across the country at this time. On one hand, the people of North-West India are sweating due to the scorching heat and humidity, while on the other hand, a shadow of clouds is hovering over 18 states of the country. According to the latest update of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the pace of monsoon is still a little slow, but the matter of relief is that from July 20, 2026, it will once again become active with full speed. Till then the weather is going to remain very sensitive in different parts of the country.

Alert of torrential rain in these states

Satellite images have made it clear that dense clouds have gathered in the sky of Eastern, Central and North-Eastern India. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for many states, warning of extremely heavy rain with ‘red alert’ in many areas. Residents of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal have been advised to be prepared for torrential rains for the next 4 to 5 days. Apart from this, ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued in other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha and West Bengal, where there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms.

Delhi-NCR awaits respite from heat

People living in the capital Delhi and its surrounding areas are still longing for rain. It has not rained even a single drop of water in Delhi for the last three days, due to which the humidity has made life difficult for the people. Recently, the maximum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 38.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 29.1 degrees Celsius, which is much higher than normal. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of rain in Delhi-NCR till July 19. There will be clouds in the sky, but instead of providing relief, they will only increase the humidity. People of the capital may have to wait till July 20 to get relief from the humid heat.

Why is such change happening in the weather?

Meteorologists say that at present a cyclonic circulation is active over North-East India, which is also under the influence of a Western Disturbance. Due to these two systems, it is raining heavily in Eastern and North-Eastern India, but the air has become dry in the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. For this reason, the temperature is increasing in these areas and the humid heat is making people miserable.
