NFHS-6 report is coming soon: A picture of the country’s health status and social indicators will be presented.
New Delhi, 28 April. A big data set related to the health sector in the country is going to be released soon. The report of the National Family Health Survey-6, i.e. NFHS-6, is expected to be released soon, which will give a detailed picture of the health status and social indicators of the country. The National Family Health Survey conducted by the Central Government is considered to be one of the most comprehensive and reliable surveys in the country.
NFHS-6 was conducted during the year 2023-24, covering a total of 6 lakh 79 thousand 238 families from all the states and union territories of the country. This survey is conducted with the aim of collecting important data related to health, nutrition, family welfare, maternal and child health, vaccination, and socio-economic indicators. Through this, policy makers and program managers are helped in better implementation of schemes and deciding future strategies.
Survey conducted entirely through digital medium
This time a special feature of NFHS-6 is that the data collection in the entire survey has been done completely through digital medium. Computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) software was used, which has real-time error detection and data verification facilities. Stringent monitoring, multi-level checks and detailed validation process at the field level have been adopted to ensure accuracy and reliability of the data.
Earlier, NFHS-5 was conducted during 2019-21, which presented an important picture of the health indicators of the country. Now after the release of NFHS-6 data, it will be clear how much health services and social indicators have improved over the years.
The NFHS-6 report will play an important role in policy making and determining the direction of health plans. After the release of the report, a new assessment of the progress of the country’s health sector will emerge.
