This entire truth was exposed in an investigative report by The Indian Express, according to which there is a severe shortage of infrastructure as well as doctors and technical experts in the hospitals and health centers of Sidhi district. The situation is such that due to lack of proper treatment in the district hospital, patients are referred to big hospitals of Rewa, due to which many women die on the way. Apart from this, due to the poor condition of roads in rural areas, ambulances are unable to reach the villages and during monsoon days, family members have to carry pregnant women on cots to the main road.

After this report came out, political rhetoric has also intensified in the state. Congress leader Umang Singhar welcomed this step of the Human Rights Commission and demanded a review of the health services of the entire state. On the other hand, BJP spokesperson Hitesh Bajpayee has said that maternal mortality rate has improved in the last two decades, but challenges like shortage of doctors and malnutrition in tribal and remote areas are still big, to fix which the government is opening new medical colleges.
