NIA raids 22 places in Bihar-UP and Haryana in arms smuggling case, 4 arrested
Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday raided 22 places in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in connection with organized illegal arms and ammunition smuggling case in which four accused were arrested.

Different NIA teams simultaneously raided seven places in Nalanda, Sheikhpura and Patna districts of Bihar and 13 places in Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, searches were conducted at two places in Kurukshetra district of Haryana. After the search, NIA has arrested Shashi Prakash from Patna, Ravi Ranjan Singh from Sheikhpura and Vijay Kalra and Kush Kalra from Kurukshetra. According to the investigation, all the accused are associated with an organized gang of illegal arms smuggling. Their network used to smuggle illegal ammunition from Haryana to Uttar Pradesh-Bihar and other parts of the country.

According to sources, about Rs 1 crore in cash and arms and ammunition of different bores have been recovered in the raids conducted in the three states. Along with this, digital devices have also been seized by the NIA team, in which objectionable data has been found. Many important documents including fake and suspicious identity cards have also been recovered.

This case is related to Bihar, when in June-July this year, the local police had recovered many illegal weapons and a large number of cartridges. After this, Rajendra Prasad, Kumar Abhijeet, Shatrughan Sharma and Vishal Kumar were arrested. On the instructions of the Home Ministry, NIA took over the investigation of this case in August 2025, the investigation is ongoing.
