Nick Jonas’ $962M Action Movie Is Leaving Netflix
Among the many titles that are leaving Netflix soon, Nick Jonas’ 2017 action-comedy is also set for departure. Starring alongside an impressive cast, it served as a sequel to a beloved 1995 Robin Williams film. It is now set to exit the streaming juggernaut’s library.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will be removed from Netflix on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix).
It is the direct sequel to the 1995 Jumanji film, starring Robin Williams, which in turn was based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 children’s picture book. Jake Kasdan directed the 2017 film, with a story by Chris McKenna and a screenplay by McKenna, Erik Sommers, Scott Rosenberg, and Jeff Pinkner.
After Alan Parish, Williams’ character, throws away the Jumanji board game, it eventually ends up in the hands of a teenager named Alex. He finds a video game cartridge inside it. Upon playing the game, Alex gets sucked into the game world.
Two decades later, four high school students stumble upon the game during their detention. When they decide to play it, they too are pulled in. There, they have to complete a series of quests to return to the real world. However, they have to face dangerous enemies first.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’s cast features Nick Jonas, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner, among others.
Sony Pictures Releasing handled the film’s distribution. Released on December 20, 2017, it went on to make $962.5 million at the global box office against a reported $90 million budget. It also earned great reviews from nearly everyone. On Rotten Tomatoesit currently holds a 76% Tomatometer rating and an 87% Popcornmeter rating. And over 500K users on IMDb rated it 6.9/10.
Its sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, came out on December 13, 2019. It was also a massive success, both critically and commercially. A third film, Jumanji: Open Worldis currently in development and scheduled for a release on December 25, 2026.
