Nifty 50 top losers today, March 20: Hindalco Industries, HDFC Bank, HDFC Life, ONGC and more

Indian benchmark indices ended higher on March 20, but several heavyweight stocks in the Nifty 50 index closed in the red, reflecting selective selling pressure across sectors such as metals, banking, and financial services.

The Nifty 50 settled at 23,114.50, up 112.35 points or 0.49%, while the Sensex gained 325.72 points to close at 74,532.96. Despite the broader market strength, a handful of stocks registered notable declines.

Hindalco Industries emerged as the top loser of the day, closing at ₹874.3, down 2.5%. HDFC Bank followed, ending at ₹780.5 with a decline of 2.2%. HDFC Life Insurance also saw selling pressure, slipping 1.4% to close at ₹624.6.

Oil And Natural Gas Corporation declined 1.4% to ₹265.4, while Shriram Finance dropped 1.2% to settle at ₹938.6. Bharat Electronics ended lower by 1.1% at ₹426.1.

Among other laggards, Adani Enterprises closed at ₹1,927.1, down 0.5%. Kotak Mahindra Bank slipped 0.4% to ₹366.8, while ICICI Bank also declined 0.4% to ₹1,245.4. SBI Life Insurance closed marginally lower at ₹1,896.9, down 0.3%.
