The cabinet of the BJP-led NDA government was expanded on Thursday at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna, the capital of Bihar. 32 NDA MLAs took oath as ministers in the grand swearing-in ceremony. During this time, former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar also started a new innings in politics by taking oath as a minister.
Many senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Upendra Kushwaha were present in the ceremony organized at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, JDU Working President Sanjay Jha, Union Minister Lalan Singh also participated in the ceremony. Before taking the oath, Nishant Kumar touched the feet of his father Nitish Kumar and took blessings. This scene remained a special attraction of the ceremony and was much discussed in political circles.
New faces get place in JDU quota
Many new and old leaders were included in the cabinet from Janata Dal United (JDU) quota. Shweta Gupta started her new innings as a minister, while Damodar Rawat also got a place in the cabinet. Many senior party leaders have also been re-inducted into the cabinet, who had held important responsibilities in the previous government. Political analysts believe that an attempt has been made to maintain social and regional balance in the cabinet expansion.
