Nissan Tekton Scores 5 Star Rating At Bharat NCAP Crash Test Ahead Of Launch [Video]

Nissan is all set to launch the Tekton SUV in the market today. As we know, the SUV is a heavily rebadged version of the Renault Duster. The official launch of the Tekton will take place today, and just before the launch, the Bharat NCAP crash test results for the SUV have been released. Like its Renault counterpart, the Tekton has secured a 5-star safety rating.

The video has been released by Bharat NCAP on its YouTube channel. In the video, Bharat NCAP mentions: “The Nissan Tekton is a corporate twin of the Renault Duster, and the safety equipment and structure are identical. Bharat NCAP compared both vehicles to verify that the Duster results can be applied to the Tekton. Hence, the footage includes test videos of the Duster based on the assessment of the Renault Duster conducted in March 2026.”

The video shown is of the Renault Duster, but we assume Bharat NCAP will release a dedicated Nissan Tekton crash test video after its official launch. Just like the Renault Duster, the Nissan Tekton has a sturdy body structure. In both the frontal offset crash test and the side-impact crash test, the SUV performed well. The passenger compartment remained stable, and the pillars also retained their structural integrity.

The airbags deployed on time and protected both the adult and child occupants. Nissan was able to achieve this score because the Tekton is based on the same R-GMP platform as the Duster.

The Nissan Tekton is the Japanese brand’s version of the Duster, and to give it a distinct identity, Nissan has taken inspiration from its flagship Patrol SUV. The front features sleek rectangular LED headlamps, a wide front grille with a red accent dividing it into two sections, 7-shaped drop-down LED DRLs, a muscular front bumper with a faux skid plate, a bonnet scoop, Tekton badging on the bonnet, and an upright SUV stance.

Coming to the side profile, we expect the Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton to share a largely similar design. The primary difference is likely to be the alloy wheel design. At the rear, the SUV gets sleek LED tail lamps with C-shaped lighting elements. We also expect Tekton badging on the tailgate, along with an integrated roof spoiler and a shark-fin antenna.

On the inside, the Nissan Tekton is expected to share much of its cabin design with the Duster. It is likely to feature a dark-themed interior with a driver-centric touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery with contrast stitching, automatic climate control, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, rear-seat privacy curtains, and more. However, the user interface for the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster is expected to be different from the Renault.

The Nissan Tekton will be offered with two engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The second is a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, which will be available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT gearbox.

Earlier, it was expected that Nissan would also offer the 1.8-litre strong-hybrid powertrain that Renault plans to introduce in the Duster later this year. However, the latest reports suggest that this is unlikely to happen. Renault is expected to keep the 1.8-litre strong-hybrid powertrain exclusive to the Duster to give it an edge in the fast-growing mid-size SUV segment.
