Nitin Gadkari’s big announcement: Government will bring blended diesel after petrol, this special chemical will be mixed

Govt Planning Add 15 Percent isobutanol to Diesel: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the government is working on a plan to add up to 15 percent isobutanol to diesel. He says that it can become a good alternative to traditional diesel and this will reduce India’s dependence on crude oil imports. This will save foreign exchange and the country will become more self-reliant in energy matters.

Nitin Gadkari gave this information at the launch program of India’s first flex-fuel passenger car on June 4, on the occasion of World Environment Day. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present in this program. Gadkari said that ethanol cannot be mixed directly with diesel. Therefore, the government is working on the technology of making isobutanol from ethanol, so that it can be used by mixing it with diesel.

Testing has been done on agricultural equipment

He said isobutanol has already been tested on machines used in construction work and agricultural equipment. Initial tests have been successful and have proven that this fuel can be used practically.

Gadkari said that he has also launched two such generator sets, which run on 100 percent ethanol and isobutanol. He says that this proves that in future such engines can be made which work completely on these alternative fuels.

Part of the plan to add isobutanol to diesel

He said that the plan to add isobutanol to diesel is part of the government’s larger strategy. Its objective is to promote alternative and clean fuels, reduce the import of fossil fuels and make the country self-reliant in the energy sector.

Gadkari said that the government is also rapidly promoting clean energy options like ethanol, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Bio-CNG, Methane, Biodiesel, LNG, Hydrogen and electric mobility. He says that these measures will reduce pollution and will also help in environmental protection.

Need to adopt different sources of energy

He also said that India still imports large quantities of fossil fuels. Therefore adopting different sources of energy is the need of the hour. He also appealed to the vehicle manufacturers to accelerate the development of flex-fuel technology and work towards making existing BS-VI vehicles flex-fuel compatible through authorized service centres.
