Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has filed nomination papers for Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Nomination papers were filed in the Bihar Legislative Council in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. During this, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha were also present. Union Ministers Jitan Ram Manjhi and Lalan Singh were also present in the Assembly during the nomination program. Apart from Nitish Kumar, BJP Central President Nitin Naveen also filed nomination papers for Rajya Sabha.

On behalf of JDU, Union Minister Ramnath Thakur, former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha and Shivesh Ram have filed nomination for NDA candidate for the elections to be held on 5 Rajya Sabha seats of Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while posting on his social media platform on Thursday morning, expressed his desire to go to Rajya Sabha. He wrote that for more than two decades, you have continuously maintained your trust and support with me, and on the basis of that, we have served Bihar and all of you with full devotion. It was on the strength of your trust and support that today Bihar is presenting a new dimension of development and respect. For this I have expressed my gratitude to you many times in the past also.
From the time I started my parliamentary career, I had a desire in my mind to become a member of both the Houses of the Bihar Legislative Assembly as well as the Parliament. In this sequence, I want to become a member of Rajya Sabha in this election.
I want to assure you with all sincerity that this relationship of mine with you will continue in future also and my resolve to build a developed Bihar with you will remain the same. The new government that will be formed will have my full support and guidance.
