‘He is not a 22 year old boy, he is a 74 year old man’, argues Manjhi in defense of Nitish on Hijab controversy.
Jitan Ram Manjhi Statement on Nitish Kumar Hijab Controversy: Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has now given his response to the hijab controversy that has created an uproar in Bihar politics. Manjhi has stood as a shield amidst the uproar over the action of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar regarding the hijab of a female doctor in Patna. While talking to the media in Gaya, he gave a statement which is now in the headlines. Citing Nitish Kumar’s age and experience, he gave a befitting reply to his opponents.
Union Minister and HAM patron Jitan Ram Manjhi has termed the incident of pulling the hijab of the Ayush woman doctor as an attempt to make unnecessary headlines. Manjhi said in clear words that if this act had been done by a 22 year old boy, it would have been understandable and it would have been considered wrong, but Nitish Kumar is a 74 year old and experienced leader. It is completely wrong to look at them from that perspective. Their every move should be viewed from a parent’s perspective and not from any ill intention.
Conspiracy to give communal color
Manjhi argued that it is not wrong to interrupt a female doctor who is going to join the AYUSH department like an elder. He raised the question that when a doctor goes in front of patients, her professional image also matters. He alleged that some people are deliberately giving a communal color to this issue so that they can earn their political profits. The female doctor herself has made it clear that the intentions of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar were not wrong and she is going to join. Manjhi has appealed that doctors should stay away from politics and start their service fearlessly.

When Deputy CM became uncomfortable on stage
When Muslim woman doctor Nusrat Parveen came on stage during the distribution of appointment letters in Patna, Nitish Kumar tried to remove the hijab from her face. Seeing this scene, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary present there also became uncomfortable and tried to stop the Chief Minister, but by then it was too late. After this incident, politics has heated up from Bihar to Delhi. Opposition parties are demanding apology and resignation from Nitish regarding this. However, this is not the first time that Nitish is in the news for his statements or actions, his videos often go viral on social media.
