Nitish Kumar will resign from the post of Chief Minister of Bihar, announced to contest Rajya Sabha elections
A major development came to light in the politics of Bihar on Thursday, when Janata Dal United (JDU) chief and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced to resign from his post and contest the Rajya Sabha elections. With this announcement, discussions about change of leadership in the state politics have intensified.
Which wish did Nitish Kumar mention?
Nitish Kumar mentioned about his long standing desire behind his decision, in which he wants to fulfill the goal of becoming a member of both the houses of Bihar Assembly and both the houses of Parliament. Nitish Kumar said that since the beginning of his political career, he has had this desire to be a part of the four houses of the democratic system.
For more than two decades, you have continuously maintained your trust and support with me, and on the strength of that, we have served Bihar and all of you with full dedication. It was on the strength of your trust and support that today Bihar is presenting a new dimension of development and respect. For this in the past…

Keeping this goal in mind, he has decided to become a candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections this time. By posting on the social media platform ‘X’, he expressed his gratitude to the people of Bihar and said that because of the trust that people have shown in him for the last two decades, he got the opportunity to serve the state.
Nitish Kumar assured the people of the state
He wrote that only with the strength of public trust and cooperation, Bihar has been able to enter a new era of development and respect. He said that he has already thanked the public many times for their support and his dedication for the development of the state will continue in future too. Nitish Kumar also assured that even after the formation of the new government, he will continue to provide his support and guidance for the development of the state.
This decision of Nitish Kumar has come at a time when the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has recently returned to power in Bihar under his leadership. In such a situation, there can be a big change in the power of the state due to his leaving the post of Chief Minister. There is also a strong discussion in political circles that if this happens then a BJP leader can become the Chief Minister of Bihar for the first time.
It is being told that Nitish Kumar will file nomination for Rajya Sabha elections today. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also expected to be present during this period.
Voting on 16 March
Voting for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar is to be held on March 16. In the seats where elections are being held, the tenure of JDU’s Harivansh Narayan Singh and Ramnath Thakur, RJD’s Premchand Gupta and Amarendra Dhari Singh and RLM’s Upendra Kushwaha are ending. Considering the current assembly strength, NDA’s victory on all these seats is considered almost certain.
