CSK vs DC: Nitish Rana had to argue with the umpire, will he have to pay this much fine?
IPL 2026: Yesterday, the Chennai vs Delhi match was very exciting. CASK came to bat first and set a target of 213 runs for Delhi. In reply, Delhi could score only 189 runs in 20 overs. Chennai got its first win of the season by 23 runs. In the 19th over of the match, something that happened outside the field between Delhi’s Nitish Rana and the umpire became the center of discussion.

What happened off the field:
Taking strict action, BCCI has fined Delhi batsman Nitish Rana 25 percent of his match fee. In fact, in yesterday’s match, Nitish Rana started arguing with the umpires outside the field. After which he has been found guilty of violating Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct. For this he has been fined 25 percent of the match fee.
Actually, Tristan Stubbs was playing in excellent form for Delhi yesterday. He played a brilliant inning of 60 runs and Delhi’s only hope of victory was from him. Stubbs had to change his gloves in the 19th over but the umpire did not allow him. Nitish was not a part of the playing 11 in yesterday’s match and got unhappy with the umpire’s decision outside the field and got into an argument with the umpire. The argument between the umpire and Nitish was seen on camera for a long time and it became the center of discussion.
Therefore, taking disciplinary action, BCCI has found Delhi batsman Nitish Rana guilty of violating Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct, and has fined 25 percent of his match fee. Along with this, he was also found guilty of violating Article 2.3, which deals with the use of abusive language or abuses during the match. For this, one demerit point has also been added to his account. Demerit points are negative points awarded by the match referee for players or support staff breaking the code of conduct. These remain in the records for 3 years (36 months). As soon as 4 points are scored, the player may be banned for 1 match.
