New Delhi: A shocking revelation has emerged in the case of Sabir Malik, a youth brutally murdered by a mob in Badhra, Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, on August 27. The lab report has confirmed that no bovine meat was found in the samples taken from the slums of Hansawas Khurd. The discovery contradicts the initial accusation that led to the horrific lynching.
The incident occurred when Malik, a resident of West Bengal, was suspected of cooking cow meat. This misinformation fuelled the violent mob attack that took his life. His body was found near Hansawas Khurd, prompting the police to arrest the accused murderers.
Meat samples from the migrant workers’ slums were sent to a government lab in Faridabad for testing. The results have now cleared Malik’s name, raising concerns about mob violence and the importance of verifying information before taking drastic action.
The incident
Five people had been arrested in connection with the case, identified as Abhishek, Mohit, Ravinder, Kamaljit, and Sahil, who are associated with a local Gau Raksha Dal (cow protection group). Additionally, two teenagers have been arrested for their role in the attack. The police are currently investigating the matter and questioning the suspects.
According to authorities, the accused, Sabir Malik, and his colleague entered a shop under the guise of purchasing empty plastic bottles. Once inside, they were violently assaulted with sticks. A video of the incident shows one individual repeatedly striking Malik while others stand by without intervening.
In response to the incident, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said “It is inappropriate to label this as mob lynching, as the assembly has enacted a stringent law for cow protection, and we will not compromise on this matter. I want to say that such incidents should not occur and they are indeed unfortunate.”
