‘No one is more corrupt than Champat Rai’… Digvijay Singh’s big allegation, questions raised on donations of 12 crore people

Tezzbuzz Desk – The case of alleged theft of offerings in Ayodhya’s Ram temple is continuously gaining political momentum. The rhetoric between the ruling party and the opposition on this issue has intensified, while the investigating agencies are already busy investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh, during his visit to Ujjain on Saturday, made serious allegations against the Central and State Government regarding this matter. While talking to journalists after visiting the Mahakal Temple, he made strong remarks raising questions on the Ram Mandir Trust and the administrative system.

Digvijay Singh alleged that for the first time such a situation is being seen in the country, where allegations of scam regarding donation money are coming to light at a big religious place. He also launched a scathing attack on Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, linking him to corruption.

The Congress leader also claimed that donations were taken from crores of devotees in the name of construction of Ram temple, but the complete account of the same was not made public. He said many donors have faced problems related to receipt and transparency.

Along with this, Digvijay Singh also made serious allegations against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). He said that these organizations are allegedly working to protect the people involved in this case. Calling it a question on the “governance model”, he reiterated the demand for an investigation.

The controversy started on June 7, when Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav had alleged irregularities in Ram temple offerings. After this the matter became politically heated and the government ordered an investigation. SIT was formed on June 13 on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The SIT submitted its preliminary report on June 23, after which an FIR was registered on June 25 and on June 26, Ayodhya Police confirmed the arrest of several accused. Meanwhile, some members associated with Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust have also resigned from their posts.

At present this matter is under investigation, but due to political rhetoric and allegations and counter-allegations, this issue has become a topic of discussion at the national level.
