Noida International Airport inaugurated… future of Delhi-NCR changed at a cost of Rs 11,200 crore

India’s Premier Aviation Gateway: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently inaugurated the first phase of Noida International Airport. This project is going to prove to be a milestone in the development of Uttar Pradesh. Built at a cost of Rs 11,200 crore, this airport will not only make travel easier but will also give a boost to the economy of the state. India’s major aviation gateway located at Jewar will prove to be a great boon for the entire National Capital Region.

Cost and development

A huge amount of Rs 11,200 crore has been spent to build the first phase of Noida International Airport. This ambitious infrastructure project is being successfully developed and operated by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG in which the government also has stake.

After getting the aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in March 2026, the facility of all-weather operation has been provided here. With the help of modern navigation system and runway lighting, aircraft movement will be safe even in low visibility. The 3,900 meter long runway here is capable of handling the world’s largest wide-body aircraft with ease.

Passenger and cargo capacity

In the initial phase, the annual capacity of this airport has been kept to serve about 1.2 crore passengers. A target has been set to increase this capacity to 7 crore passengers per year in future. Apart from this, there is also a huge capacity of cargo handling which will be able to handle 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of goods annually.

Located near Yamuna Expressway, this airport has emerged as the second major civil airport of NCR which will act as a gateway. It is being developed as a multi-modal transport hub where there will be a wonderful combination of road and rail. Passengers will be able to easily reach their destination from here through metro and other transport services.

Uttar Pradesh has now become the proud state of the country where the maximum number of international and domestic airports are present. Modern facilities like expressway, metro and rapid-rail are already providing continuous services to the people in the state. Inland waterways and now this international airport are giving UP a new identity on the global map.

This airport will be the first such center in the country where in-house maintenance, repair and overhaul i.e. MRO facility will be available. With this technology, India’s dependence on other countries for repair and maintenance of aircraft will be reduced. Thanks to the ILS system and modern lighting, flight operations will remain completely smooth even during night time.
