Flights will land safely even in bad weather, the airport is equipped with many modern facilities, inauguration is tomorrow
Jewar Airport: A big step is being taken to further improve air travel in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Noida International Airport built in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh on March 28. This airport will be the second international airport for the Delhi-NCR region and is expected to make air travel much easier and faster.
When will it be inaugurated?
The Prime Minister will reach Gautam Buddha Nagar at around 11:30 am. There he will inspect the airport terminal and officially inaugurate the first phase (Phase-1) of the airport at 12 noon. After this he will also address a public meeting.
Why is the airport special?
This airport is one of the largest greenfield (built on a new site) airport projects in India. Its main objective is to reduce the increasing pressure on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Currently, a lot of passengers come to Delhi Airport, due to which there is problem of crowding and delay. After the construction of Jewar Airport, this burden will reduce and passengers will get better facilities.
There is a plan to have a modern aviation network
The government plans to jointly create a strong and modern aviation network between the two airports. This will help in making the Delhi-NCR region a global aviation hub and will further strengthen its identity at the international level.
How much did the airport cost?
This project has been developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. That means both government and private companies are working together in this. The construction of the first phase of the airport has cost around Rs 11,200 crore.
What is the capacity of the airport?
Initially this airport will be able to handle approximately 1.2 crore (12 million) passengers every year. In the future, it will be expanded further so that its capacity can be increased to 7 crore (70 million) passengers.
Many modern facilities were provided
Many modern facilities have been provided in the airport. A 3,900 meter long runway has been built in it, on which large aircraft can easily land and take off. Apart from this, advanced navigation systems like Instrument Landing System (ILS) have been installed here, due to which aircraft can land safely even in bad weather.
Flights will be less affected due to weather
A modern lighting system has also been installed at the airport, due to which it will be able to work 24 hours and in all weather conditions. This facility will be very beneficial for the passengers, as flights will be less affected due to weather.
Cargo system is the special aspect here
A special aspect of this airport is its cargo system. A multi-modal logistics hub is being built here, through which goods can be easily sent from one place to another through road, rail and other means of transport. Initially this airport will be able to handle about 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of cargo every year, which can be increased to 18 lakh metric tonnes in future.
How are the preparations regarding the environment?
This airport is also special from environmental point of view. It has been designed in such a way that it produces “net-zero emissions” i.e. minimal pollution in the future. For this, energy saving technologies and environment friendly measures have been used.
Developed as a multi-modal transport hub
Talking about location, this airport is located near Yamuna Expressway, due to which its connectivity will be very good. It is being developed as a multi-modal transport hub, where road, rail, metro and other transport facilities will be easily available. Overall, Noida International Airport can bring a big change in the development of Delhi-NCR. This will not only make travel easier, but will also boost trade, employment and regional development.
