This SIT will be headed by the ADG of Meerut zone. Divisional Commissioner of Meerut and Chief Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) have also been included in the team. According to officials, the team has been instructed to ensure that the investigation is completed in a timely and impartial manner.
The accident happened on the night of 16 January
This accident happened late night on 16 January in Sector-150 of Noida, when Yuvraj Mehta was returning home from his office in Gurugram. Visibility was almost zero due to dense fog. According to eyewitnesses, Yuvraj kept screaming for help for about an hour and 45 minutes. Greater Noida Assistant Police Commissioner Hemant Upadhyay said, “We feared that if someone had entered the water, more lives could have been in danger. The situation was extremely risky.”
What did Yuvraj’s father say in his complaint?
According to the complaint lodged by Yuvraj’s father, residents of Sector-150 had already demanded the Noida Authority to install barricading and reflectors near the pothole, but no action was taken. Police say that the boundary wall of the pit was broken at many places.
Action will be taken on the basis of SIT report
At present, the police is investigating factors like dense fog, high speed and lack of safety arrangements as possible reasons for the accident. After the SIT report, action against the responsible agencies is considered certain.
