Noida is set to strengthen its road infrastructure with the construction of its third elevated road. The Noida Authority has approved plans for a 5.4-kilometre, six-lane elevated corridor connecting Rajnigandha Chowk to Sector 57 at an estimated cost of ₹700 crore. The project aims to reduce traffic congestion on one of the city’s busiest routes and significantly improve connectivity between Delhi and key sectors in Noida.
Major Traffic Relief Planned For Daily Commuters
The proposed elevated road will provide a direct, signal-free route for commuters travelling from the DND Flyway towards Sector 57, Greater Noida West, Electronic City, and other commercial hubs. Currently, thousands of vehicles pass through this corridor every day, leading to frequent traffic jams and long travel times, especially during peak office hours.
Officials believe the new corridor will help decongest Master Plan Road-1, one of Noida’s most heavily used arterial roads. By separating through traffic from local traffic, the elevated road is expected to make commuting faster and more predictable.
Travel Time Could Reduce Dramatically
According to project estimates, the elevated corridor could reduce travel time on the stretch from around 30-40 minutes to nearly 10 minutes. The road will eliminate several traffic signals and bottlenecks that currently slow down movement between Delhi and central Noida.
The project is expected to benefit residents and businesses located in sectors 57, 58, 59, 62, 65, and nearby areas, which have witnessed rapid growth in recent years. Improved connectivity could also enhance access to major IT and commercial centers in the region.
IIT Roorkee Study Paved The Way
The project has been under consideration for several years. IIT Roorkee was tasked with conducting feasibility studies, route surveys, and traffic assessments to determine the best alignment for the corridor. One of the major challenges involves designing the elevated road around existing metro infrastructure near Rajnigandha Chowk.
Experts evaluated multiple options, including constructing the road in sections and creating additional loops or connections to ensure smooth traffic flow once the project becomes operational.
Part Of Noida’s Larger Infrastructure Push
The new elevated road is part of Noida’s broader strategy to improve urban mobility and support the city’s rapid expansion. With growing residential developments, office spaces, and industrial hubs, authorities are increasingly investing in large-scale infrastructure projects to keep pace with rising traffic demand.
