Jewar Airport inaugurated on March 28, route diversion implemented! – Obnews
Noida and Greater Noida Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inauguration of **Phase I** of **Noida International Airport** (Jewar) on **Saturday, March 28, 2026**. Prime Minister **Narendra Modi** will formally inaugurate the facility and address a public meeting, which is expected to be attended by a large number of people.
The schedule is scheduled as follows: PM Modi will visit the terminal building at approximately **11:30 am**, followed by the formal inauguration at approximately **12 noon**.
**Traffic restrictions** will remain in force on March 28 from **7:00 am to 11:00 pm**. There will be **complete closure** for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), medium goods vehicles (MGVs), and light goods vehicles (LGVs) on **Noida-Greater Noida Expressway**, **Yamuna Expressway**, and adjacent roads near the airport. Emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire engines will be exempted from this.
**Main diversion and parking arrangements**:
– **From Meerut and Ghaziabad** (via Eastern Peripheral Expressway after Sirsa Toll): Turn right at the next main intersection, proceed through Pushta Tiraha (after Galgotias University), take the double service road, and enter through the designated gate near the under-construction interchange. Parking will be at **P1-07** and **P1-06** (Meerut-Ghaziabad side).
– **From Mathura, Agra and Southern side**: Parking areas will be diverted towards **P1-05**, **P1-09**, and **P1-11** (towards Kishorepur).
– **From Bulandshahr, Hapur, Jahangirpur and Dankaur** (via Khurja Road): Will be diverted towards **P1-14** and **P1-13**.
– **VIP/High Dignitaries**: Enter via the Internal Expressway Interchange (32 km stone) and park in **P1-01**, **P1-02**, and **P1-03**. – **Media and Protocol Vehicles**: Park at **P1-08** via Kishorepur Gate.
– **Police and Administrative Officers**: Park at **P1-10** near Kishorepur Gate.
– **General Public Buses**: Park at **P1-15**.
– Vehicles coming from Greater Noida Expressway will be allowed entry from **P1-07** parking, near Renesas police post via Galgotias University Cut and Pushta Tirahe.
**Diversion of goods vehicles**: All commercial vehicles coming from Gopalpur side will be diverted back towards Tappal. Vehicles coming from Khurja, Secunderabad, Aligarh and Agra will be diverted to Jewar Toll, Yamuna Expressway or other places. No goods vehicle will be allowed on the expressway or internal roads of the airport during the restricted hours.
**About the Airport**: Noida International Airport at Jewar is a major **Greenfield Project** developed under the **Public-Private Partnership (PPP)** model as the second international airport in the Delhi-NCR region; It will complement Indira Gandhi International Airport. Its first phase involves huge investment (initial estimate around Rs 10,000–11,200 crore), aimed at reducing congestion as well as promoting regional connectivity and economic growth.
