Noise of women power in Dehradun: ‘Mahila Aakrosh Mashal Yatra’ started under the leadership of CM Dhami, crowd gathered
The streets of Dehradun today echoed with the light of torches and loud slogans of thousands of women. The crowd that gathered in the ‘Mahila Aakrosh Mashal Yatra’ organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made it clear that the mother power of the state is not going to back down on any front regarding its rights. The way women took to the streets in this march that started from Gandhi Park and reached Ghantaghar, has given a big message not only to the politics of the state but also to the Centre.
Actually, this entire demonstration was against the political deadlock arising over the Women’s Reservation Bill. Chief Minister Dhami himself took command of this yatra by holding the torch in his hand. The enthusiasm of the women during the journey was palpable. It is being told that this huge crowd has created a stir in the opposition camp, because this show of strength was a direct reply to those forces who have tried to put obstacles in the way of women’s reservation.
Sharp attack on the opposition: Dhami said – women will not remain silent now
During the Mashal Yatra, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s attitude appeared very strict. He directly termed the mentality of the opposition as ‘anti-women’. The Chief Minister said that this Mashal Yatra is not just a symbolic procession, but the flame of anger that has flared up against those who have been depriving women of their rights for decades. Dhami stressed that when today’s government is taking forward the Women’s Reservation Bill, which was kept suppressed in the files for years, some parties are creating obstacles in it to shine their politics.
The Chief Minister said emotionally, “Today’s woman is no longer powerless, she is aware and has become a decisive force.” He alleged that the opposition parties always looked at women only as a ‘vote bank’ but when it came to their actual empowerment, they lagged behind. The CM warned in a clear tone that “now women will not remain silent”, and in the coming times, they will respond to their insults and violation of rights in a democratic manner.
Demonstration of strength on the streets of Dehradun: What is its political meaning?
The view from Gandhi Park to Clock tower today seemed like the sound of some major political change. This Women’s Protest Torch March Not only Dehradun, but thousands of women from different corners of the state participated. If political experts are to be believed, Chief Minister Dhami has hit two birds with one stone through this visit. On one hand, while he clarified the BJP’s stand on the issue of women’s reservation, on the other hand, he has surrounded the opposition by uniting the biggest strength of Uttarakhand i.e. ‘Matrishakti’.
The presence of prominent women leaders like Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya and MLA Savita Kapoor in the program made the event more effective. Rekha Arya said that some family based parties are feeling uncomfortable with the increasing participation of women in the society, which is why they want to make the path of women’s reservation difficult. But this crowd gathered today has shown that the women of Uttarakhand know how to fight their own battles.
Not just a protest, this is the resolve of the women of new India
In his address, the Chief Minister also mentioned the historic efforts made by the Central Government for women empowerment. He said that today under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, policies are not being made only on paper, but their impact is visible on the ground. Be it the Ujjwala scheme or the help provided to self-help groups, every step has made women self-reliant. In fact, this torch march was a reflection of that self-reliance and confidence.
In the end, this torch march ended with a big resolution. The Chief Minister assured the women of the state that the state government is fully committed to protecting their honor and rights. He said that unless the mother power of the state is happy and strong, the dream of developed Uttarakhand is incomplete. The political message sent through this yatra can give a new direction to the politics of the state in the coming days.
