Noor Bukhari responds to criticism on hijab
Former Lollywood star Noor Bukhari has openly defended her decision to wear the hijab, responding to critics through a recent Instagram post. She emphasized that her choice to cover her head is a deeply personal one, made for herself and not influenced by others’ opinions.
In her post, Noor firmly stated, “Wearing hijab or covering my head is my own personal choice. I have not done it for anyone else, so stop commenting on my decision.” She called for respect for her autonomy and the recognition that everyone has the right to make their own choices regarding their appearance.
The ongoing debate about women’s clothing choices has sparked intense discussions on social media, with many advocating for women’s rights to dress freely without judgment. Notable figures, such as politician and activist Sharmila Faruqui, have also weighed in, condemning the judgmental attitudes toward women’s attire. Faruqui urged people to stop criticizing actresses like Hania Aamir and Yashma Gill over their fashion choices at a recent wedding, stressing that clothing is a personal decision, not something for public debate.
The controversy surrounding the fashion choices of Hania Aamir and Yashma Gill grew after veteran actress Hina Bayat voiced objections during the wedding of Yashma’s sister. Faruqui responded by calling for an end to public judgment about women’s clothing, insisting, “Let women live their lives the way they want. Clothing is a personal choice, not a public debate.”
Noor Bukhari, who retired from acting after a successful career in both Punjabi and Urdu cinema, has faced similar scrutiny for adopting a more religious lifestyle in recent years. Despite the criticism, she remains unwavering in her decision to embrace the hijab and live according to her personal values.
