Nora Fatehi’s legal troubles increase, NCW sent summons regarding the song ‘Sarke Chunar’

New Delhi: The Women’s Commission (NCW) will hear the case related to the song ‘Sarke Chunar’ on Thursday. Film actress Nora Fatehi will appear before the commission. During the hearing held on April 27, film actor Sanjay Dutt appeared before the commission. While clarifying about this allegedly obscene song, he also apologized. He also submitted an affidavit in which he promised to bear the entire education expenses of 50 tribal girls. In his clarification, he said that at the time of filming, the song was in Kannada language and he had no knowledge about the Hindi dubbing done later. Nora Fatehi could not attend that hearing.

Nora could not appear on 27th April

Nora Fatehi’s lawyer appeared on her behalf during the hearing held on 6 April. But the Commission refused to accept this representation. Instead the actress was directed to appear in person for the hearing on April 27. During the hearing, Commission Chairperson Vijaya K. Rahatkar had expressed serious objection to the lyrics of the song. He stressed that such songs hurt the dignity of women and stressed that the dignity of women cannot be compromised in the name of creativity.

Controversy over the song ‘Sarke Chunar’

Lyricist Rakib Alam, director Prem and representatives of the production company also appeared before the commission in connection with this case. Submitting a written apology, he admitted that the song had a negative impact on society and assured that he would work towards women’s empowerment in the future. This controversial song is part of the Kannada film KD: The Devil, which faced severe criticism on social media platforms after its release. Despite the strict stance of the Commission, Nora Fatehi could not appear for the hearing on 27 April. National Commission for Women has called actress and dancer Nora Fatehi for hearing in connection with the controversy related to the song ‘Sarke Chunar’. According to reports, Nora has been asked to appear before the commission on May 7 at 11:30 am.

Sanjay Dutt has already apologized

Regarding this matter, actor Sanjay Dutt appeared before the Commission on 27 April where he issued a written apology and said that he never intended to hurt the sentiments of women or society. During the hearing, Commission Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar asked him many questions and emphasized on the social responsibility of the artists. Sanjay Dutt made an important announcement and promised to bear the entire education expenses of 50 tribal girls. He also assured that from now on, the dignity of women and children will be fully respected in every project.
