Northeast United dominates the Team of the Week for Match Week 6

Matchweek 6 of the Indian Super League delivered thrilling action, with Northeast United FC and Hyderabad FC securing dominant victories, while Chennaiyin FC and FC Goa battled to hard-fought draws.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru FC continued their unbeaten streak with a commanding win over rivals Kerala Blasters in the Southern Derby, and East Bengal endured a sixth consecutive loss.

In a high-scoring week, top performers dazzled fans with spectacular goals, including Alaeddine’s left-wing curler and Parag Shrivas’s long-range screamer.

Goalkeeper

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (Bengaluru FC)

Indian national team captain Gurpreet Singh Sandhu has started his season strong, with five clean sheets from his first six matches and a total of 21 saves.

This week, he lost his clean sheet record to Kerala Blasters FC after a penalty but still made five critical saves to thwart the Blasters’ attack.

Defenders

Udanta Singh (FC Goa)

Playing as a right-back, Udanta Singh has excelled in his defensive role for FC Goa.

He scored his first goal of the season against Chennaiyin FC with a well-placed header and was a lively presence on the flank, making numerous tackles and interceptions.

Alex Saji (Hyderabad FC)

Young defender Alex Saji has impressed this season, including his strong performance in Hyderabad’s first win against Mohammedan SC.

He maintained a clean sheet and successfully blocked shots from the opposition’s quick forwards, Franca and Alexis Gomez.

Mourtada Fall (Odisha FC)

Senegalese defender Mourtada Fall demonstrated his commanding presence against East Bengal FC with solid tackles and clearances, while also scoring a crucial headed goal on a set piece to secure victory for Odisha.

Parag Shrivas (Hyderabad FC)

Parag Shrivas played a key role in Hyderabad’s win, contributing both defensively and offensively.

He provided an assist and scored a stunning long-range goal to the top right corner, sealing a critical win for Hyderabad.

Midfielders

Jithin MS (Northeast United FC)

Jithin MS continues to impress with his aggressive play for Northeast United FC.

Against Jamshedpur FC, he created numerous chances and assisted Parthib Gogoi, narrowly missing a goal himself when he hit the woodwork in a one-on-one with the keeper.

Muthu Irulandi (Northeast United FC)

Muthu Irulandi’s physicality and defensive presence were crucial in Northeast United’s game against Jamshedpur FC. With four successful tackles and eight won duels, he helped control the midfield, allowing his teammates to press forward.

Parthib Gogoi (Northeast United FC)

Edgar Mendez (Bengaluru FC)

His goals helped Bengaluru continue their unbeaten run and secure three valuable points.

Alaeddine Ajaray (Northeast United FC)

Alaeddine Ajaray is in exceptional form, having scored in six consecutive matches and leading the ISL Golden Boot race with seven goals.

Against Jamshedpur FC, he assisted one goal and scored two more, including a remarkable curled shot from a tight angle.

Allan Paulista (Hyderabad FC)

In his debut season, Brazilian Allan Paulista scored a brace against Mohammedan SC, ending Hyderabad’s winless streak.

His first goal came from a goalkeeper error, and he doubled his tally with a beautiful curling finish from the edge of the box.
