Explosion and massive fire in engine room
According to the information received, Dixit Solanki was working as a crew member on the oil tanker ‘MKD Vyom’. The Marshall Islands-flagged ship was about 52 nautical miles off the coast of Muscat, Oman, when an unmanned drone boat loaded with explosives rammed the ship. The attack was so fierce that the ship’s engine room exploded and caught fire. At the time of the accident, Dixit was on duty in the engine room and died on the spot when he got caught in the fire.

A mountain of grief for the Solanki family
Dixit Solanki was originally a resident of Diu (Gujarat) but had settled in Kandivali for the past few years. His father Amritlal Solanki runs a fishing business in Diu. Dixit was the youngest son in the family. Shockingly, Dixit’s mother had passed away only a month ago. He had come to the village for his mother’s funeral and had returned to duty after that. However, within a month, the news of Dixit’s death has brought grief to the Solanki family.
164 tourists from Maharashtra stranded in Dubai returned safely
On the other hand, hundreds of Indian tourists were stranded in Dubai (UAE) due to the conflict between US-Israel and Iran affecting air traffic. Against this background, the Maharashtra government has shown readiness and brought 164 tourists from the state stranded in Dubai safely home. Under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, special flights were arranged for the travel of these tourists. The tourists arrived in Mumbai by two special flights from Fujairah airport in UAE. 76 tourists reached Mumbai on Tuesday night. Another flight carrying 88 tourists landed at Mumbai airport late at night. This includes 84 MBA students and staff of ‘Indira School of Business Studies’ in Pune. All these tourists have breathed a sigh of relief after returning home.
