Nothing OS 4.0 update announced
CMF has started the official rollout of Nothing OS 4.0 for its smartphones. This is an important software update for the CMF Phone 1 and the new CMF Phone 2 Pro. This update is being released in a phased manner, in which Phone 1 users will get it first, while Phone 2 Pro users will get it in the beginning of January. Let’s take a look at the features of this update.
Better and streamlined interface
Nothing OS 4.0, which is based on Android 16, focuses on improving the system. The interface has been made more clean and stable with this update. It includes new system icons, changing status indicators and a simplified Quick Settings layout, making daily use of the phone even smoother and more intuitive.
Dark and smarter mode
A new and improved Extra Dark Mode has been added in this update, which gives a deeper shade of black. This mode enhances contrast and reduces battery consumption. Plus, notifications, quick settings, and the app drawer are easy to read. Now this feature is also available in in-house apps like Essential Space.
Customization for widgets and layouts
Customization options have been increased in Nothing OS 4.0. Now new widget sizes like 1×1 and 2×1 can be used for apps like Weather, Pedometer and Screen Time. This allows users to design their home screen compact and full of information.
smart multitasking
Multitasking is now even easier, as the functionality of the pop-up view has been improved. Users can now easily run two floating apps and switch between them with swipe gestures. The new Hidden Apps feature also lets you hide selected apps from the app drawer for faster access when needed.
Smoother animation and better feedback
Animations in the interface have been made smoother, improving the experience of transitions, gestures and visual depth. App opening and closing animations now include subtle background scaling, making the visual flow feel more cohesive. Haptic feedback has also been improved, providing a better tactile experience through slight vibrations at minimum and maximum levels of volume.
