Nottingham Forest appoints Vitor Pereira as manager

Nottingham Forest has appointed Vitor Pereira as manager to replace Sean Dyche, the Premier League club announced on Sunday.

The Portuguese manager has been given an 18-month deal and becomes the fourth different manager to take charge of the club this season after Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecogolou and Dyche.

Dyche was sacked earlier this week following Nottingham’s 0-0 draw against bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers, which left it in 17th place, just three points above the relegation zone.

His replacement, Pereira, began his managerial career in 2002. He took over Porto in 2011 and led the club to back-to-back league titles. Having spent time at Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, Periera then moved to Olympiacos in January 2015 and went on to win the double with the Piraeus side.

He has also managed Fenerbahçe in Turkey and Chinese Super League Club Shanghai SIPG, guiding the latter to their first-ever league title in his debut campaign, before then winning the Chinese Super Cup. He has also had spells in charge of Brazilian clubs Corinthians and Flamengo.

Most recently, he was in charge of Wolves, helping the club avoid relegation last season. However, a 10-game winless streak at the start of this season saw him lose his job and be replaced by Rob Edwards.
