Novak Djokovic created history, won the longest quarter-final of Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic has made it to the semi-finals of Wimbledon 2026. The Serbian veteran defeated Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-6 (10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4) in a quarter-final match that lasted for more than 5 hours. This was the longest men’s singles quarter-final match in Wimbledon history.
Djokovic, 39, and Auger-Aliassime, who is 14 years his junior, sweated for 5 hours and 15 minutes on the center court of the All England Club. Earlier in 2008, the quarter-final between Rainer Schuttler and Arno Clement lasted for 5 hours and 12 minutes.

Djokovic became the first player to do so
Djokovic continues to break records in search of his 25th Grand Slam title. He has created a new record by reaching the semi-finals of Wimbledon for the eighth consecutive time. He has gone one step ahead of Roger Federer in reaching the most consecutive men’s singles semi-finals in this tournament played on grass courts. Also, he has entered the semi-finals of Wimbledon for the 15th time, which is a record.

Djokovic was elated with the victory
Djokovic said after the victory, ‘These are the moments for which I still play tennis. I am still able to compete with young players who are 15 years younger than me. I can defeat him in a very close contest. Djokovic was later asked to compare himself to Argentina’s Lionel Messi, who is 39 and still impressing at the top-level. Djokovic said about the great footballer Messi, ‘It would be nice to play 90 minutes like him.’
Djokovic will face Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals. Last year, Sinner had defeated Djokovic in straight sets in the semi-finals of Wimbledon. Djokovic had defeated this Italian player in five sets in the last-4 of this year’s Australian Open.
