In fact, before the first Grand Slam of the year 2025 i.e. Australian Open, Novak Djokovic said, “I had some health problems. I realized that in that hotel in Melbourne, I was fed food which was laced with poison. That was the only way it could be done.” He claimed that after his return to Serbia he was tested and it was found that he had consumed a poisonous substance. Let us tell you that Djokovic has once again come to participate in the Australian Open and will enter the Grand Slam starting from January 12 with the intention of winning his 25th title.
The Serbian player also said that he has no complaints about Melbourne or Australia, but what happened to him at that time remains an important chapter in his career. He said, to be honest, I was quite shocked by this. The last time I arrived in Australia and had to go through passport control and immigration, I was reminded of what happened three years ago. I always feel that the person who is looking at my passport will either detain me or let me go.”
It is noteworthy that during the Corona epidemic, no one was allowed to come to Australia without Covid-19 vaccination. Djokovic was accused of violating this rule in the Australian Open in 2022. The allegation was that Djokovic had given false information while traveling to Melbourne to participate in the Grand Slam. At the same time, before the Grand Slam, the visa of the Serbian tennis player was canceled and later he was sent back. During this time he was quarantined in a hotel in Melbourne. Djokovic had also fought a legal battle for this.
In the year 2022, Djokovic could not even participate in the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the year, due to not getting the Covid-19 vaccination. However, Djokovic came to participate in the Australian Open in the year 2023 and won his 10th title in Melbourne. After this, this Serbian player also participated in the first Grand Slam of the year in 2024.
