Now children can get vaccinated anywhere in the country, message for next dose will come on mobile
To make vaccination of children in the country easy, accessible and trackable, the Central Government has launched a new scheme. digital (U-WIN Vaccination Portal) initiative has been started. Now vaccination records of children aged zero to five years are being recorded online on the ‘U-WIN’ portal.
To ensure that they do not forget the date of the next dose, an automatic message will also be sent to the parents’ mobile phone 48 hours before the vaccination. The special thing is that no matter which city or state the child is in, he can be vaccinated at the nearest government health center at the scheduled time.
This digital (U-WIN Vaccination Portal) system will especially provide great relief to the migrating families. Now there will be no worry of losing the vaccination card, because the complete vaccination details of the child can be seen only on the basis of the registered mobile number. This will ensure that no child is deprived of vaccination.
Vaccination helps protect children from many life-threatening diseases and birth defects, and also reduces maternal and infant mortality. Despite this, the health department’s targets were being affected due to the problem of missing vaccines. Due to lack of timely vaccination, many children become at risk of serious diseases.
In view of this challenge, ‘U-WIN’ portal was started as a pilot project in 65 districts of the country in January 2023. Its objective was to create digital records of routine vaccination of children and develop an effective tracking system. This portal has been prepared on the lines of Co-Win.
After the success of the pilot phase (U-WIN Vaccination Portal), now the process of implementing it in the entire country has been expedited. Through the portal it will also be possible to know which vaccine is missing and where the nearest vaccination center is located.
According to Aligarh District Immunization Officer Dr. Dinesh Khatri, this digital system will not only make the vaccination process simple and transparent, but will also increase vaccination coverage and strengthen the access of common citizens to health services.
