Now gas cylinder will not be available without OTP! Government changed rules, theft and black marketing will be curbed: – ..

New Delhi: There is a big news for LPG consumers in India. The Central Government has made OTP based delivery system mandatory to make the LPG cylinder delivery system more secure and transparent than ever before. Now customers of Indane, HP and Bharat Gas will have to tell the one-time password received on their registered mobile number to the delivery boy while taking the cylinder. With the implementation of this new rule, theft of gas cylinders and rigging in subsidy will be completely stopped.

What is the new delivery system and how will it work?

Under this new system of the government, as soon as you book a gas cylinder, a unique code (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number. When the delivery person reaches your home with the cylinder, you will have to show or tell him that code. The employee will enter this code in the smart device with him, only after which your delivery will be considered ‘successful’. Without this process, your quota will not be reduced nor will the delivery be recorded.

Strong attack on black marketing and fake delivery

There were often complaints that gas agencies used to show fake deliveries in the name of customers and embezzle subsidy money. There is no scope for manipulation in the new digital system. Now no one will be able to lift the cylinder in your name. This step will not only save the government exchequer, but will also ensure that LPG reaches only those who truly need it.

It is most important to keep the mobile number updated

The most essential condition to avail the benefits of this new system is that your correct mobile number Be recorded in the records of the gas agency. If your number has changed or is not yet linked, you should immediately get it updated by visiting your gas agency or through the mobile app of the respective company (IndianOil One, HP Pay, or BPCL SmartDrive). Without an active number you will not receive OTP, which may delay delivery.

There is an easy solution even for those without smartphones

The government has also taken care of the elderly and rural consumers who do not use smartphones. The OTP comes in the form of a simple SMS, which can be viewed on any phone with a simple keypad. Alternative arrangements for IVRS have been made for areas where there are network problems. The government’s aim is that no poor or needy should be inconvenienced due to technology.

Take these special precautions for safety

Security is of utmost importance in the digital age. Consumers should keep in mind that OTP is confidential information. Give it to the delivery boy only when he is physically present at your home with the cylinder. Be careful: Do not give any information to those asking for OTP by calling on phone or through any link, it could be an attempt of cyber fraud.
