Now Google Maps will tell whether the air at your street intersection is breathable or not
New Delhi. Google on Wednesday launched AI-powered Air View Plus feature. Users across the country will be able to avail its benefits through Google Maps. On this, the amount of pollution in the air of street intersections will be known. This will provide real-time information about air quality at a very local (hyperlocal) level. This new facility has come up at a time when air pollution in Delhi-NCR has increased to dangerous levels.

Air pollution one of the health challenges
Air pollution is causing significant health challenges. Incomplete data about air quality at the hyperlocal level limits the ability to take targeted action. This facility is a powerful solution for government officials and people. Users will be able to get real-time hyperlocal air quality information in Google Maps.
Climate tech firms AraSure and Respirer Living Sciences have played a key role in setting up air quality sensor networks in cities that previously lacked the necessary infrastructure to monitor air quality. These sensors measure temperature and humidity as well as various air quality parameters, PM2.5, PM10, CO2, NO2, ozone and VOCs, every minute. These sensors installed in more than 150 cities continuously monitor air quality.
Data from sensors is verified

Data from these sensors is verified in collaboration with local researchers from IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, state pollution boards and climate action groups like CSTEP. The data is analyzed by researchers using Google AI, making the information useful to both citizens and city planners.
Google Maps Real-Time AQI Feature: How will it work?
A colour-code system has been used to indicate the status of pollution on Google Map. In this, green color means normal and dark red color has been used for the most polluted situation. This feature of real-time pollution tracking is available on both Google Map's app as well as website.
The AQI level of Google Maps is being shown in color code as well as on a scale of 0 to 500 points. These numbers mean that the more pollution there is in the area, the higher will be the AQI number. Here we are sharing the AQI category with you.
