Now messages will disappear after 15 minutes of reading, WhatsApp is bringing ‘After Reading’ feature
WhatsApp keeps bringing new and useful features for its users. Now a new feature has emerged, which can make your chat more secure than before. It may soon happen that as soon as the other person reads your message, it will automatically disappear. This feature is being specially prepared keeping privacy in mind.
According to reports, WhatsApp is working on a new feature, which has been named ‘After Reading’. Information about this feature has been given by WABetaInfo, a website that monitors WhatsApp updates. The purpose of this feature is to give users more control over their chats. When this feature is activated, the sent message will automatically be deleted after being read.
How will this feature work?
The way this feature works is quite easy. As soon as the receiver opens the message, a timer will start. It is being told that after the message is opened, a 15-minute countdown will run. As soon as this time is over, the message will be automatically deleted from the chats of both the sender and the recipient. If the other person does not open the message, it will remain in the chat for 24 hours. After this it will disappear automatically.
This feature can prove to be very useful especially for those people who share sensitive information. Like OTP, password, address or verification code. Till now such messages remain in the chat until they are deleted manually. But with the introduction of this new feature, such information will be automatically removed, which will reduce the risk of data leakage.
Will work even if read receipt is turned off
One special thing is that this feature will work even if the user has turned off the read receipt i.e. blue tick. That means, even if the other person reads the message, the system will still recognize it and delete the message after the stipulated time. This feature is different from the existing ‘Disappearing Messages’, in which the option of 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days is available. The new feature is considered to be much faster and safer than these.
The feature is still in testing
This new feature is currently seen in a beta version of Android (2.26.12.2), but it is not yet available to common users. The company is developing it now and it will be launched only after testing. At present, no official information has been revealed by WhatsApp regarding the launch date of this feature. But it is believed that in the coming time it can be gradually released to the users.
