Sanjay Singh, Patna: Now the travel of ministers, judges and senior officials in the state of Bihar is going to be more comfortable and luxurious than before. The government has increased the price limit fixed for the purchase of government vehicles. After this decision, now officers holding higher positions will be able to travel in trains with more expensive and modern facilities.

Actually, the government has taken this decision in view of the continuously increasing prices in the automobile market. According to the notification issued by Rachna Patil, Expenditure Secretary of the Finance Department, the limit for purchasing vehicles for different categories of officers has been changed. This decision was taken after the meeting of the Administrative Rank Committee, which was chaired by the Chief Secretary.

how much the limit increased

Under the new system, the maximum limit for purchase of vehicles for ministers and their equivalent officials has been increased from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 37 lakh. Similarly, for Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary and Secretary level officers, this limit has been increased from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. For officers like District Magistrate and Principal District and Sessions Judge, vehicles worth up to Rs 22 lakh can now be purchased, whereas earlier this limit was Rs 20 lakh. For Superintendent of Police, this limit has been increased from Rs 16 lakh to Rs 18 lakh. Whereas for other officers this limit has been increased from Rs 14 lakh to Rs 16 lakh.

The style of government convoy will change

The effect of this decision will now be visible in the glimpse of government convoys also. Till now, ministers and senior officials mainly used vehicles like Toyota Innova Crysta or Toyota Fortuner, but now they will be able to choose more modern and premium models.

Now officers can be seen in new and convenient vehicles like Toyota Innova Highcross, Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. District level officers and judges will also now be able to use better model vehicles. Lower level officers, who till now used to travel in vehicles like Bolero, will now be able to switch to more comfortable vehicles.

Government’s argument

The government says that this decision was necessary to replace old vehicles and keeping safety in mind. Better vehicles will make it easier for officers to work. However, some people are also criticizing this decision. He says that when the general public is troubled by inflation, it is not right to increase the luxury of officials with government money.
