Panvel Karjat Local Train: The government is trying to provide maximum connectivity to Navi Mumbai Airport which has just started. Karjat to Panvel railway line will now be added to this. The Karjat-Panvel suburban railway project, which will directly connect the Central and Harbor railway network, is now in its final stages and will be on track by the end of this year. This important project is being realized through a joint project of Mumbai Railway Development Corporation and Central Railway.
The railway line from Karjat to Panvel is about 29 km long and the railway stations of Karjat, Chowk, Mohopada, Rasani and Panvel will be connected. At present expansion of stations, construction of facilities, tunnels, bridges and tracks, passenger management works are underway on this route. Construction of signaling and interlocking system is also in the final stage and preparations are being made to start the route after technical tests. It will be a link connecting the Central and Harbor railway network, making travel more convenient, faster and safer for passengers. After the start of direct local service from Karjat (Panvel Karjat Local Train), Panvel railway station will be an important interchange connecting the Central and Harbor lines. Considering the increasing number of passengers, the expansion of the station has been accelerated. The length of the local platform is being extended and plans are being made for future 12-coach trains.
The height of the platform is being improved, with safety being a top priority. The design of the station is being made more efficient and modernized keeping in mind the increasing crowd. The work of the new pedestrian bridge is also going on at a fast pace, and the facility of lift and escalator will be available on it. So this will be a big relief for senior citizens, disabled and women passengers.
Karjat-Panvel railway line is going to be a very important and transformative link of the future considering the international airport, growing population and fast developing Navi Mumbai.
