Special report by Rita Kumari with Rajesh Tiwari

Obra/Sonbhadra-

While on one hand there is a lot of corruption and problems in the society, on the other hand there are some personalities who are going beyond their responsibilities and writing a new definition of social service. Ajit Singh, a conscious journalist of Sonbhadra district, has become the center of discussion these days due to his humanitarian work. He is not only exposing the inconsistencies of the society through news, but has also emerged as a ‘Messiah’ for the helpless in this bitter cold.

Journalist Ajit Singh has started a special service campaign with the pledge of let’s bring change together and change ourselves, society will change. Under this campaign, they themselves are reaching those places where people are forced to live under the open sky or in poverty due to severe cold. Ajit Singh believes that sages and saints are the heritage of our Indian culture. They are visiting small and big temples of the district and distributing blankets to the saints, poor, helpless and handicapped people living there.

He said emotionally, when one human does not think about another human then who will? Be it a small or big temple, help should reach every place where people are shivering due to cold. Along with service work, Ajit Singh has also drawn attention towards the shortcomings of governance. He says that government blanket distribution is often limited to only papers, photos or camps. Due to this, aid does not reach the real beneficiaries, who live in inaccessible areas or are unable to move.

He has demanded from the district administration that the officers should not be limited to camps only, but should go door-to-door and conduct surveys. Direct help should be provided especially in remote tribal areas and slums. The administration should deliver relief material to the doorsteps of the elderly and disabled who cannot come to the camp. Ajit Singh is not only distributing blankets, but he is also listing the basic problems of the poor families so that they can be effectively placed before the government and the government.

He clearly believes that the duty of a true journalist is not only to report the problem but also to be a part of the solution. His selfless work is being highly appreciated by the local citizens, intelligentsia and social workers. His efforts are giving a positive message to the society that if the individual takes the initiative himself, change is certain.
