Now the 5th largest airport in Bihar: Great news for these districts

News Desk. A big change is about to come in the field of air travel in Bihar. Eastern India’s first and the country’s fifth largest greenfield airport is going to be built in Sonpur. The state government has approved more than Rs 1300 crore for this and more than 4000 acres of land will be acquired for its construction.

Airport location and connectivity

Sonpur Airport will be developed on the western bank of Gandak River and near the Sonpur-Chhapra main road. New bridges and road networks are being constructed to connect it with Patna and surrounding districts, which will make both traffic and travel easier.

Runway and facilities

The runway of this airport will be approximately 4.2 kilometers long as per international standards. This means that even large commercial and international aircraft will be able to land and take-off easily. Also, it will be possible to operate flights here 24 hours a day, which will increase the convenience of regional and international flights.

With the construction of Sonpur Airport, the people of Bihar will get convenience in travel and new opportunities for tourism, business and employment will also open here. In the coming time, this airport will prove to be a big center of development not only for Sonpur but also for the surrounding districts like Munger, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Supaul, Motihari and Chapra.
