What is that special technology?
This new technology has been named Molecular Solar Thermal. In this, scientists have prepared a special organic molecule, which captures the sun’s energy within itself in the form of chemical bonds. When needed, this energy can be recovered in the form of heat.
How does this technology work?
According to researchers, the structure of this molecule is inspired by human DNA, when UV rays of the sun fall on it, its shape changes and it stores energy inside itself like a spring. This changed state can remain stable for years. After this, later through mild heat or special chemical process, it returns to its original form and releases the stored energy in the form of heat.

This technology can also prove to be better than traditional batteries in terms of energy storage capacity. Let us tell you, while one kilogram of lithium battery can store about 0.9 megajoules of energy, this new molecule in the same quantity can store about 1.6 megajoules of energy within itself. That means its capacity is considered to be almost double that of a normal lithium battery.
How can it be used
Scientists believe that in the future, this technology can be used in solar systems installed on the roofs of houses. The sun’s energy can be stored in the form of liquid throughout the day and can be used at night for keeping houses warm, heating water and other heating needs. Apart from this, this technology can also prove useful as an off-grid heating system in camping and remote areas. The most important thing is that this eco-friendly material can be recharged and recycled again and again, which will make it possible to use it for a long time.
