Now the truth will be revealed as soon as the call comes! Jio launches anti-fraud feature
There is relief news for mobile users troubled by digital fraud and fake calls. The country’s leading telecom company Reliance Jio has launched a new service, which will help in identifying fake callers. Through this feature, as soon as a call is received on a user’s phone, the real name of the caller will appear on the screen. The company claims that this will curb spam and fraud calls to a great extent.
For some time now, cyber criminals have been cheating people by calling in the name of banks, insurance companies or government departments. In such a situation, this new initiative of Jio can prove to be a security shield for crores of customers.
How will Jio’s new service work?
This facility of Jio is based on Caller Name Presentation technology. When a call comes in, the name of the person or organization calling will appear along with the number. This information will be made available through telecom networks and verified databases.
If the call is from a registered business, bank or service provider, its exact name will appear on the screen. At the same time, users will be able to be alerted in case of suspicious or unknown calls.
How will fake calls be stopped?
Till now, users used to guess whether a call is reliable or not just by looking at the number. But fake callers often use local or familiar looking numbers. Seeing real names in the new service will make it easier to identify such fraudsters.
Experts believe that this feature will prove to be especially effective in preventing digital fraud, OTP fraud and fake KYC calls.
What benefit will the users get?
This service will help users in taking decisions even before receiving the call. If any suspicious or unknown name appears on the screen, the call may be ignored. This will not only prevent fraud, but will also provide relief from unwanted calls.
Jio says that this feature will be gradually made available to all customers and there will be no need to download any separate app for this.
Pressure will increase on other telecom companies
After this initiative of Jio, it is believed that other telecom companies may also have to launch similar services. TRAI has already implemented strict rules to stop spam calls and this service is considered a big step in that direction.
Another step towards digital security
This new service of Jio is an attempt to strengthen digital security amid increasing cases of fake calls and cyber fraud. If this feature proves to be effective, it will become safer than ever for mobile users to receive calls.
