‘Now we will work from here’, rebel group captured TMC headquarters

Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress (TMC) is in trouble after the crushing defeat in the Bengal Assembly elections. On Friday, a group of rebel MLAs locked the temporary headquarters of the party located in the metropolitan area of ​​Kolkata. TMC’s old office is on EM Bypass. But renovation work is going on here. For this reason, in the year 2022, TMC had opened a temporary headquarters in the metropolitan area. Now rebel Ritabrata Banerjee’s group has taken control here.

 

According to media reports, Leader of Opposition Ritabrata Banerjee reached TMC headquarters along with Firhad Hakim, Javed Khan, Sandipan Saha and Akhruzzaman. Here he held a meeting with party leaders and claimed that his group is the real TMC. Akhruzzaman said that we are Trinamool Congress and this office belongs to Trinamool Congress. There is an emotional connect between the party and this office. Leaders of the rebel group said that an agreement has been reached with the owner of the place. Now work will be done from the office at this place.

Claim made on election symbol and party name

Just a day earlier, Ritabrata Banerjee had claimed before the Election Commission that his group is the real TMC. More than two-thirds of the MLAs and councilors are also with us. He staked claim on the party’s name and election symbol. On Thursday, a delegation of rebel leaders led by Ritabrata Banerjee met Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and both the Election Commissioners. However, TMC opposed the meeting and said that it was not as per the procedure of the Election Commission.

 

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has sent a letter to Mamata Banerjee and the rebel group. In this, a reply has been sought by 5.30 pm on July 6 on the authorized signatories and organizational election dispute.

TMC is going through the biggest crisis

These days TMC is going through the biggest political crisis in its history. A situation like Uddhav Thackeray has arisen in front of Mamata Banerjee. After the crushing defeat at the hands of BJP in the Bengal Assembly elections, the party is today on the verge of collapse. 58 out of 80 party MLAs rebelled on June 3 and elected Ritabrata Banerjee as their leader. 12 days later, on June 15, 20 MPs separated from TMC and merged with Tripura’s unnamed party Nationalist Citizens Party. Now Mamata Banerjee faction has only 8 MPs left.
