Now you can also adopt tiger and deer, Delhi Zoo released ‘rate list’ of animals – Read
If you have attachment or love for wild animals and want to pet them, then your wish can be fulfilled soon. Delhi Zoo can help you in this to some extent. Actually, the zoo is going to start the facility of adoption of animals for the common people from March.
According to the information, the National Zoological Park will provide people the facility to adopt animals for a day on their birthday, wedding anniversary and other special occasions.
Now the question in your mind will be that how and whether any kind of payment will have to be made for this? So the answer is – Yes, for this you will have to pay a fixed amount, which is decided according to the size and diet of the animal. According to the information, this amount has been fixed at Rs 500 for a small animal like deer and Rs 50 thousand for a big animal like tiger.
The proposal will be approved this month
According to zoo officials, the proposal for short-term adoption of animals is expected to be approved by the end of this month and will be implemented in March. Single-day adoption pricing is based on each animal’s annual adoption rate.
For example, if the annual adoption charge of an animal is Rs 50 thousand, then the charge for adopting it for a day will be approximately Rs 500.
How much does it cost for which animal?
According to the information, a spotted deer, whose annual adoption cost is Rs 18,000, can be adopted for Rs 500 for a day. A sloth bear, whose annual adoption cost is Rs 45,000, can also be adopted for Rs 500 for the whole day. The annual adoption cost for a tiger is Rs 6 lakh and its one day adoption will cost around Rs 50,000.
The zoo is introducing short-term and online adoption options to make the scheme more accessible, especially for those who cannot commit to adopting an animal for a full year.
What will be the benefit?
It is expected that more people will participate in this initiative and people’s involvement with wildlife conservation will be strengthened. It will also help in increasing the number of visitors to the zoo and earning more revenue.
Under this scheme, the adopters will bear the expenses decided by the zoo, which will be used for the food and daily care of the animal. Not only this, depending on the package chosen, adopters will also get a certificate and photographs as souvenirs.
Digital screen will be installed
To take the scheme to the masses, plans are also being made to install a digital screen at the main entrance of the zoo, which will show adoption options and information about the animals kept at the facility.
Let us tell you that the objective of the Animal Adoption Program started in 2022 was to promote animal conservation and strengthen people’s connection with wildlife. However, zoos currently allow adoptions for one or two years, with most adopters being corporations.
The current adoption process was lengthy and complex, leading to a decline in participation. So far only four companies have come forward. Therefore, efforts are being made to make the process easier to attract more people, so that participation of more and more people can be ensured.
