Aadhaar card will be downloaded only through one message and WhatsApp, UIDAI has simplified the process.

Till now, to get a digital copy of Aadhaar, one had to go to the UIDAI website and go through processes like OTP, captcha and PDF download, which proved to be a bit complicated for many people, especially for those users who work only on mobile.

• Keeping this problem in mind, UIDAI has made the process of downloading Aadhaar easier.
• PDF copy of Aadhar card can also be obtained directly through WhatsApp.
• The user has to just send “Hi” to the official WhatsApp number of UIDAI +91-9013151515. After this, automatic chat starts, in which options for many Aadhaar related services are available.
• Here, on selecting the option related to DigiLocker, the option to download Aadhaar appears.

Aadhaar PDF now directly on WhatsApp chat

• As soon as the user selects the option of Download Aadhaar, he is asked for his Aadhaar number and then OTP is sent to the registered mobile number.
• As soon as the correct OTP is entered, the PDF file of Aadhaar is directly available in WhatsApp chat. This file is password protected, to open which the date of birth has to be entered, which also maintains security.
• UIDAI says that no document is shared without OTP verification, hence only that person can download Aadhaar whose mobile number is linked to Aadhaar.
