Patna University Students Union Elections 2026: NSUI registers big victory
Patna: Students’ union elections were held in Patna University on 28 February 2026, in which NSUI performed excellently and won important posts. Shantanu Shekhar got 2067 votes for the post of President, while Khushi Kumari got success in the post of General Secretary. For the post of Vice President, Shifat Faiz got 1571 votes, while his nearest rival Ayush Harsh got 1503 votes. Abhishek Kumar won the post of Joint Secretary with 2143 votes. Against him, NSUI’s Mohd. Munawwar Azam got 1751 votes. For Treasurer, ABVP’s Harsh Vardhan secured 1519 votes and defeated his nearest rival Abhishek Kumar by 1429 votes. Police forces were deployed for security at all the booths during voting. Certificates were given to the winning candidates in the night. Vice Chancellor Prof. Namita Singh expressed hope that all the newly elected officials will work in the interest of the university and students.
Outcry and reaction
During the elections, ruckus was also reported at some places, where Tej Pratap’s candidate was removed by the police.
Support of Congress and Pappu Yadav
After winning the post of President, Shantanu Shekhar of NSUI called it the result of collective hard work of the organization. He also appreciated the support of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and MP Pappu Yadav. Shantanu secured 2896 votes, while student JDU’s Prince Kumar secured 1400 votes.
Exciting contest for the post of Vice President
The contest for the post of Vice President was very tough, where independent candidate Sifat Faiz won by 65 votes. He got a total of 1571 votes, while Ayush Harsh got 1503 votes. Sifat created an uproar due to the delay in announcing the results, but in the recount, she remained ahead and was declared the winner.
NSUI captures the post of General Secretary
For the post of General Secretary, Khushi Kumari of NSUI defeated student Pratyush Raj of RJD by a margin of 553 votes. Khushi got 2164 votes, while Pratyush got 1611 votes. Congratulating on the victory, MP Pappu Yadav called it the result of his efforts to provide justice to NEET girl students.
ABVP won two seats
ABVP’s Abhishek Kumar defeated NSUI’s Manowar Azam by 392 votes for the post of Joint Secretary. Abhishek Kumar got 2173 votes. Whereas, for the post of Treasurer, ABVP’s Harsh Vardhan defeated student JDU’s Abhishek by 90 votes. He received 1519 votes.
