Nushrat Bharucha exposes Bollywood, why only the hero wins at the box office?

News India Live, Digital Desk: We often sit with friends and debate this, “Man, when a hero film comes, it earns Rs 500-1000 crores, but why can’t even good heroine films make such a big collection?” Does Bollywood discriminate? Or is it we the audience who are lacking?

Actress who made her mark with films like ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ and ‘Chhori’ Nushrratt Bharuccha Has expressed his opinion openly on this issue. He has explained without any hesitation why only male-dominated films are the ‘king’ of the box office in the industry.

Let us understand in very simple words what Nusrat said, which will force us all to think.

“Whatever the public wants, only that will be seen”

Nusrat believes that more than the producers or directors are responsible for this. Responsible Audience Are. He very clearly said that cinema is a business and it runs on ‘Demand and Supply’.

Nusrat says that in our country there is a very large section of the audience which ‘Hero-worship’ Believes in (Hero Worship). When a big hero comes on screen and kills the villain, whistles ring in the hall. People go to the theater to have that ‘larger-than-life’ experience.
According to him, “If the audience is buying tickets and watching more men’s films, then the makers will make the same ones. The day the audience will give equal love to women’s films, that day the equation will change.”

Boys movies are a ‘safe bet’

Nusrat also explained the economics of film making. He said that producers invest money where there is guarantee of return (profit).
Even today it is believed in the industry that a male star can get a huge opening (first day earning) for the film. Heroine-oriented films have to survive on the basis of their story, whereas hero films attract the initial crowd on the basis of stardom. Therefore this gap remains.

So are girls’ movies useless?

no way! Nusrat also admitted that times are changing. Now films like ‘Crew’, ‘Raazi’ or ‘Gangubai’ are coming which prove that women can also handle the box office. But that figure is still small compared to the films of male actors.

Overall, Nusrat has put the ball in our court i.e. the ‘audience’. His statement is clear that whichever film you go to the theater to watch, Bollywood will make more similar films. If we want change, we have to start with our choices.
