Social Media influencer Nyla Rajah is facing severe backlash after announcing her marriage to Pakistani cricketer Imad Wasim.
Nyla, a lawyer by profession, was first linked with Imad Wasim a few months ago when he announced that he had filed for divorce. At that time, his wife Sannia, without naming Nyla, described her as a “third party” who had caused problems in their marriage and wanted to marry the father of her three children.
During that period, several photos also went viral on social media showing Nyla strolling on the streets of London with the 33-year-old cricketer.
After these allegations surfaced, the content creator strongly denied them, calling her meeting with the cricketer a “fan moment,” and also indicated that she would take legal action against those spreading rumors.
However, on 16 February, people were left shocked when photos and videos of Imad Wasim and Nyla Rajah’s wedding appeared on social media, and later, both of them also announced their marriage.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “It is deeply hurtful when people try to protect themselves by blaming and targeting a single woman, but I trust in Allah’s wisdom above all. I did not date anyone. I got married through a proper proposal to a man who was previously married and later divorced.”
In this long note, she says even strong social media personalities have faced separation and public pressure, and she is just an ordinary girl who worked hard to build her own career.
She claimed that the backlash became threatening and her character kept being questioned. Journalists were brought in to target her and discuss her personal life. People recorded her without permission and shared videos. Her family was dragged into it. Things went out of control and became impossible to handle.
The influencer also expressed desire to welcome her husband’s children, saying, “f Allah reunites us with his children, with the consent of everyone involved, I will welcome them with an open heart. I will care for them, love them, and raise them with kindness, respect, and responsibility alongside him.”
Concluding her post, she requested “not to drag this matter further”, but netizens lashed out in the comment section and subjected the newlywed couple to severe criticism.
Nyla received more than 9,000 comments within just nine hours of posting, and the majority expressed disapproval of her marriage.
Some social media influencers who had initially supported her later criticized her and said they regretted believing her.
