New Zealand Defeated South Africa: The first semi-final of T20 World Cup 2026 was played between New Zealand and South Africa. Both the teams were face to face in Eden Garden, Kolkata. Batting first, South Africa set a big target of 170 runs. However, the Kiwi team chased the target easily. On the basis of Tim Seifert’s half-century and Finn Allen’s century, New Zealand handed South Africa a crushing defeat by 9 wickets. With this, the New Zealand team has made it to the final of the T20 World Cup.

New Zealand crushes South Africa

Batting first in the semi-finals, South Africa scored 169 runs. Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton returned to the pavilion quite quickly. South Africa was able to reach a respectable score on the basis of 34 runs by Dewald Brewis, 29 runs by Tristan Stubbs and 55 runs by Marco Jansen. South Africa’s bowling is very strong. For this reason it seemed that chasing the target would not be easy for the Kiwi team.

The New Zealand team started with a bang and made big shots. A strong partnership of 117 runs was seen between Finn Allen and Tim Seifert. Seifert played a brilliant innings of 58 runs in 33 balls. After his dismissal, Rachin Ravindra came to bat. Finn Allen continued his stormy batting. Scored 100 runs in 33 balls. He hit the winning shot and helped the team win by 9 wickets in just 12.5 overs. Allen made the match one-sided with his batting.

New Zealand team will play the final on March 8

With the victory, the New Zealand team has now booked its ticket to the finals. On March 8, 2026, he will enter the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to win the T20 World Cup title. They will face the winner of the second semi-final between England and India. This is the second consecutive ICC tournament in which the Kiwi team has reached the final.
