6 wickets in 29 runs, West Indies’ batting flopped after a good game, the first day went to New Zealand

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, the West Indies team’s first innings was reduced to 205 runs. There was competition between the two teams during the first two sessions of play but in the final session the batting of the Caribbean team collapsed. West Indies’ last 6 wickets fell for just 29 runs. At one time the host team’s score was 176-4.

Shai Hope was the top scorer in the first innings for West Indies, who scored 48 runs in 80 balls. Apart from this, opening batsman John Campbell scored 33 runs in 87 balls, Brendan King scored 33 runs in 55 balls and captain Roston Chase scored 29 runs in 69 balls. 4 West Indies batsmen could not even open their account.

Blair Tickner bowled brilliantly for New Zealand and took 4 wickets. But unfortunately, while trying to stop a four on the second ball of the 67th over of the innings, he suffered a shoulder injury, after which Tickner was taken out of the field on a stretcher. It seems difficult for him to take further part in this test match. Apart from this, Michael Ray, playing his debut match, took 3 wickets, Jacob Duffy and Glenn Phillips took 1 wicket each.

It is noteworthy that the first test match of the three-match series was a draw.
