New Delhi:- Urine removes toxins and wastes from the body. Which is a very important process of the body system. But sometimes due to the effect of some disease or problem, people start feeling obstruction in urination. Doctors do not consider such a situation normal. According to experts, urinating in less quantity or feeling obstruction in urination can be a sign of some infection or disease. Therefore, when this happens, instead of ignoring the problem or taking it lightly, it is very important to immediately consult a doctor and get the necessary tests and treatment done.
Causes of obstruction in urination: Urologist Dr. Saket Navani of Navi Mumbai says that problems related to urination are more common in old age, especially in men. But this problem can also be seen in children, youth and middle-aged people due to different reasons.

He explains that many people think that problems in urine drainage can occur only due to UTI or prostate related problems, but apart from this, there are many other reasons which can be responsible for this condition. Some of the most commonly seen reasons for obstruction or problem in urination are as follows.

Urinary Tract Infection- UTI: Urinary tract infection is the most common reason due to which one may experience obstruction in urination. When bacteria enter the urinary tract, they cause infection, causing burning sensation and blockage in urination. Urinary tract infection – If UTI is not treated at the right time, it can also take a serious form.

Prostate gland problem: Men may have difficulty urinating due to enlargement or swelling of the prostate gland. The prostate gland is located near the urethra and its swelling can increase pressure on the urethra, causing obstruction of urination. This is called benign prostatic hyperplasia- BPH.

Kidney Stone: In case of kidney stones, there may be obstruction in urination. In fact, kidney stones can block the urinary tract, causing the flow of urine to slow or stop. Along with this, there may also be problem of pain and blood in urine.

Bladder problem: Due to swelling or infection in the bladder, obstruction in urination may be felt. Apart from this, sometimes due to weakness of the bladder muscles, urine is not able to come out properly.

Nervous system disorders: If there is a problem in the nervous system that controls the bladder and urinary tract, then there may be a problem of urinary obstruction or intermittent urination. This is called neurogenic bladder, in which the control of the bladder muscles becomes weak.

Lack of water in the body: When there is a lack of water in the body, urine becomes more concentrated and there may be a burning sensation or obstruction while urinating. Lack of water also affects the kidneys, which can slow down the process of making urine.
Which diseases are considered symptoms: He explains that obstruction or disturbance in urination is also counted among the symptoms of some diseases, some of which are as follows.

Diabetes: People suffering from diabetes are more likely to get urinary tract infections, which can cause obstruction in urination. High blood sugar levels can affect the kidneys, affecting the normal process of urination.

Prostate Cancer: Obstruction in urination in men can be a symptom of prostate cancer. Abnormal growth in the prostate gland can compress the urinary tract, causing difficulty in urination.

Kidney disease: Obstruction in urination can also occur if the kidneys are not functioning properly. When the kidneys are not able to filter urine properly, it directly affects urine flow.
Timely investigation and treatment is necessary
Dr. Saket Navani says that whether it is a man or a woman, most of the people do not take urinary obstruction or problem very seriously in the beginning and delay consulting the doctor. At the same time, many people consider it to be the effect of lack of water or ask the chemist and start taking medicines without checking, which is wrong. In the problem of urinary obstruction, many other internal organs can also be affected. At the same time, if this is happening due to the effect of some disease or problem, then delay in investigation and treatment can also cause the problem to become serious. If this problem increases, it can cause more pain and discomfort in the urinary tract. Therefore, if there is less urine flow, intermittent flow or pain, burning sensation or difficulty in urinating, it is very important to immediately consult a doctor and get necessary treatment.
